Emburse, a global provider of travel and expense (T&E) management technology, serving more than 12 million finance leaders and travel managers across over 20,000 organisations in 200 countries and territories, has broadened its network of travel partners and deepened an existing tie-up with a major payments provider.
The company has struck new strategic partnerships with Flight Centre Travel Group (FCTG), TempoTrip and World Travel (WTI), alongside an expanded collaboration with Mastercard, as it looks to widen the reach of its open, AI-driven approach to corporate travel and spend management.
According to the company, the new tie-ups are designed to support its wider ambition of building a connected T&E ecosystem that allows organisations to combine the technologies of their choice rather than being tied into a single, closed platform. Emburse said the arrangements would allow customers to bring together booking, travel policy oversight, payments, expense handling and financial data without ceding control to one supplier.
Central to this push is what Emburse calls 'Travel and Expense in Motion,' its framework for the next stage of T&E management. The approach is intended to link every stage of a business trip, from planning and booking through to payment, expense submission and reconciliation, into a single ongoing process rather than a series of disconnected steps.
Emburse said the aim is to cut down on friction, encourage earlier and better-informed spending choices, tighten compliance and give finance teams clearer oversight of travel costs throughout the journey.
Its expanding partner network is designed to let customers plug in their preferred travel management company, ERP, HR and payment systems, as well as expense tools, into one connected workflow that can evolve alongside their needs.
Emburse pointed to several advantages it says come with this open structure, including reduced dependence on any one vendor, combined travel booking, expense and policy processes, automatic syncing of travel and expense information, smoother experiences for travellers, earlier sight of spending and compliance issues, AI-supported expense governance, closer links between travel, finance, HR and payment systems, and virtual cards with customisable data fields to aid reconciliation.
These additions build on a partner network that already spans more than 100 technology providers, reinforcing the company's stance that businesses should be able to select the best tool for each part of their spend management rather than settling for a single bundled platform.
Emburse CEO Marne Martin said, 'Business travel is too critical a function to relinquish control to suppliers.
'Organizations shouldn't have to choose between innovation and flexibility. By expanding our ecosystem with industry-leading travel partners, we're giving customers the freedom to bring their preferred TMC while connecting travel, expense, policy, and AI into one adaptive, intelligent experience.'
Mastercard executive vice president, corporate solutions, North America Mary Beth Livengood said, 'Emburse's commitment to an open, connected ecosystem aligns closely with Mastercard's vision for modern B2B payments.
'By embedding Mastercard virtual cards directly into Emburse, organizations can streamline payments, automate expense reporting through real-time transaction data, and strengthen compliance. Through Mastercard's broad ecosystem, customers also gain the flexibility to access virtual card programs from their preferred banking providers, delivering greater choice and efficiency across the travel and expense experience.'
