Entrust, a global provider of identity-centric security solutions, has unveiled the Agentic AI Trust Accelerator, a co-development initiative designed to give enterprises the trust infrastructure required to take autonomous AI projects out of the pilot phase and into live production.
The programme will convene enterprises alongside integration partners to jointly design the identity and trust foundations that autonomous agents need to operate safely. Companies keen to put AI agents to work currently struggle to govern their autonomous behaviour across systems, partners and business processes, lacking the means to establish who sanctioned an agent, what powers it holds, and how its activity can be evidenced retrospectively.
The urgency is clear. An IBM study found that 77% of CIOs and CISOs believe AI adoption is already running ahead of their governance capabilities, while 59% point to security and compliance as leading obstacles to deployment. Deloitte has similarly stressed that the move to 'human on the loop' automation demands robust AI agent governance and oversight.
Initial work under the programme will concentrate on four areas relevant to regulated and compliance-driven workflows. These are identity, ensuring every agent action can be traced to a confirmed human principal and a unique agent; authorisation, keeping agents within approved policies and delegated authority with humans in the loop for critical decisions; cryptographic trust, safeguarding the keys, certificates, secrets and signing capabilities agents rely on; and accountability, providing cryptographically verifiable records for regulators, customers and internal risk teams.
Entrust specialises in identity verification, cryptographic identity, and lifecycle management for keys, certificates and secrets, capabilities it says are essential to extending trust and governance to agents acting across applications, systems and organisational boundaries. The Accelerator will deliver reference architectures, customer-validated use cases and practical controls spanning identity, authorisation and accountability.
Participation is being opened to a limited group of enterprise customers, financial institutions, cloud and SaaS providers, systems integrators and other technology partners interested in co-developing trusted agentic AI architectures.
